MAINTAINING CARDIO-RESPIRATORY ENDURANCE

Maintaining Cardiorespiratory Endurance The cardiorespiratory system consists of the heart, blood vessels, and respiratory system, it picks up and transports oxygen, nutrients and waste products. The body takes chemical energy from food and uses it to produce ATP and fuel cellular activities.

ATP is stored in the body's cells as the basic form of energy. American physical therapy association 2005 observed that during exercise, the body supplies ATP and fuels cellular activities by combining three energy systems. The best exercise for good health is a cardiorespiratory endurance exercise. To have a successful exercise programme, set realistic goals, choose suitable activities, begin slowly, always warm-up and cool down, and as fitness improves, exercise more often, longer and harder. BR BR The intensity of training, the most important factor in achieving cardiorespiratory benefits, can be measured through the target heart rate zone and ratings of perceived exertion. Serous injuries require medical attention. Application of the R-I-C-E principle (rest, ice, compression, elevation) is appropriate for treating many types of muscle or joint injuries. Muscle cramps are caused by local muscle fatigue that triggers the nervous system to overstimulate the muscles. Until recently, muscle cramps were thought to be caused by dehydration or salt depletion in the muscles, but scientists have found little evidence for this. Muscle cramps can occur during or after exercise performed either in heat or in cold. You can prevent cramps by improving your fitness and making sure you consume enough fluid and electrolytes during exercise.

Is it all right to participate in cardiorespiratory endurance exercise while menstruating?
Yes.

There is no evidence that exercise during menstruation is unhealthy or that it has negative effects on performance. If you have headaches, backaches, and abdominal pain during menstruation, you may not feel like exercising for some women, exercise helps relieve these symptoms. Listen to your body, and exercise at whatever intensity is comfortable for you.

Question for today
Are you ready to exercise at all times?
